This is a group for people interested in hanging out, drinking different kinds of beer, and discussing their perspectives on life. Each week we choose a topic and a new kind of beer to try out. We hear a 5 min presentation of the subject and then we discuss it. This group is for people from any faith or non-faith background. It's mostly about having a good time and getting to know people who like to think while they drink. We meet on the second and fourth Thursday of the month.

Drinking Skeptically does not take "official" positions on political, religious, academic, or other matters. For example, Drinking Skeptically is not an "atheist" organization; nor is it a "non-atheist" organization. All we are interested in is providing a social venue for rationalists, critical-th …

Humanism is a godless philosophy based on reason and compassion. Humanists believe that our morality is based on the well being of conscious creatures, and that no higher power needs to be appeased. Here in Rhode Island, where the Catholic Church holds such sway and power that we can't pass a marriage equality bill or even remove a prayer from our schools without going to court, it's important to remember our founder Roger Williams, the man who first established a part of this world where church …
